On the trails, the maximum speed is 70 km/h.

Less than 100 metres from any residence, the maximum speed allowed is 30 km/h.

At all times, snowmobilists travelling along the trail must have on their person :

  • a valid trail permit (sticker and blue permit);
  • vehicle registration certificate;
  • a valid driver’s license (public road);
  • proof of civil liability insurance (minimum $500,000);
  • a certificate of capacity and proof of age (for individuals 14 and 15 years of age);
  • a document evidencing the term of the the loan or a copy, in the case of a lease or loan.

The license plate must be fixed at the rear of the snowmobile or as close as possible to the rear on the outside of the vertical surface to the left of the track tunnel.

It is strictly forbidden to modify the exhaust system of a snowmobile used on trails (ref. act respecting off-highway vehicles, Chap. 2, Art. 6). The sound level must not exceed 73 decibels. Any change can result in a fine and storage of the vehicle, at the owner’s expense.
